Finding products that will moisturize your thick natural hair can definitely be a hit or a miss. Your hairs porosity depends on what products will work for you, whether they are super thick and creamy products or lightweight and water based products.
Hair porosity- Is essentially your hairs ability to absorb, maintain and retain moisture. There are 3 different types of porosity. 1.Low Porosity: Harder for water and products to penetrate your hair shaft. 2.High Porosity: Products and water can be easily absorbed and penetrate your hair shaft. 3.Normal or Medium Porosity: Similar to high porosity, in addition it also allows your hair to retain moisture for longer. If you are looking for a thick, moisturizing cream to moisturize your hair with, then I highly suggest trying our Bare Your Hair Butter Cream. Bare Your Hair Millions of women struggle with thinning hair on a daily basis. The cause of thinning hair can be anything from products you're using, medication, hormones and even hairstyles.
When it comes to styling your thinning hair you want to be very strategic and careful, because you don't want to cause any more damage resulting in possible hair loss. You also want to pick a low manipulation hairstyle so that you are not constantly touching your hair every day, causing friction, breakage and more thinning. Below are some tips and ideas to keep in mind when trying to combat your thinning hair. 1. Lightly massage your scalp everyday. Stimulating your scalp for hair growth is going to be beneficial for you in the end. When doing your massages, it doesn't have to be super long I recommend (at least 10 minutes for thinning hair) just because you don't want to put to much pressure or friction or your thinning areas. 2.Be gentle with your hair! Yes the style may be cute, but if your hair is already thinning, then a tight style may not be the best choice. Refrain from styles such as bun, ponytails, cornrows or anything that is causing any unnecessary pulling and pressure on your scalp. 3.Develop a hair routine. Although you don't want to be manipulating and messing in your hair too much you still need to develop a hair routine. By doing this you are setting yourself up for success in achieving hair growth. Pick a day of the week in which you want to wash your hair, you also want to make sure that you are deep conditioning and choosing moisturizing products to nourish your hair with. Once you have washed and moisturized your hair, you want to then pick your low manipulation style of the week. You do not have to wash your hair every single week, pick what works best for you! 4.Be consistent and patient! These are the two most important things to remember when styling and growing your thinning hair. Stay consistent in your hair routine, scalp massages and hairstyles. When you are consistent with those things and patient (because hair DOES NOT grow over night) you will see the results that you've been waiting for. Bare Your Hair When it comes to hair growth, some people have it easier than others. Different factors come into play such as
- Genetics -What your hair routine looks like -Products you're using -Styles you're wearing as well as other deciding factors. One of my biggest pieces of advice is to make a hair routine and stick to it! (I will talk about this in a later post). When it comes to hair growth and health consistency is key to getting the results that you want. For my hair growth needs I personally love using my Bare Your Hair Peppermint Oil. It is filled with great all natural ingredients and essential oils geared towards hair growth. I apply it to my scalp morning and night and do a good scalp massage for a minimum of 30 minutes. By being consistent and having a routine I am/was able to grow my hair to waist length. Keep in mind that there are many different essential oils that promote hair growth like Lavender and Rosemary. When done correctly protective styles can really pay off. However you have to remember to be gentle on your scalp and hair or else you can cause breakage resulting in hair loss. Some benefits of protective styling include:
1. Retains Length: By keeping your hair up, protected and out of the way, you are reducing your risk of breakage and manipulation which in return results in retaining the length you already have. 2. Its Low Maintenance & A Time Saver: Putting in a quick protective style is not only low maintenance which reduces breakage and encourages hair growth, but its also a huge time saver when getting ready in the morning. 3. Hair Growth: When done right protective styling can result in some hair growth. It is important that you take care of your actual hair when protective styling to see beneficial results.
